University II: The Studying (and other projects)

So I sort of... kind of... keep dropping the ball when it comes to updating this blog.  It's not intentional, it's just lately nothing has really happened where I've stopped and thought 'I should blog about that!'.

Just thought I'd post and say that I've reapplied to university. I have to give huge thanks to the 'Back on Course' service. I had no idea if I'd even be allowed to go and have another try at studying something but they cleared everything up for me really quickly and it's all going well.

This time I'm doing something with a lot of screenwriting involved. Part of one of the application processes involves creating a new script from the title 'Where were you last night?', which will likely eventually be up on my other 'Limey's Desk' portfolio blog - whether I get in or not.

It's a fun and interesting experience to come up with ideas and write something from only a title. It really fires up the imagination. I should try it more often.

I have to say, I'm very much looking forward to doing more with my days and not being skint!

I also have lots of personal projects in the works, which include but are not limited to an online sitcom that's still in the pre-production stages, a short Doctor Who comic (the first page of which has recently been uploaded to my DeviantArt) and some creator owned comic projects. As usual I'm always looking to work on new things.

I'll try to update this blog more with videogame reviews or TV rambles ...or well ... something, more regularly. I know I always say stuff like this, but I mean it this time. I'll post my opinion on The Walking Dead game or Sonic 4 : Episode 2 or y'know .. whatever it is I end up playing or doing or thinking about sometime soon...

Later.

Some stuff broke.

I changed Google accounts and that's sort of broken a lot of the images. I've fixed the ones related to the layout itself but the old posts will have to be left as they are because there are so many of them and I just don't have the time..

As far as bloggy updates that relate to me and not the blog go, well... I'm still looking for work. I've been considering posting some reviews and editorials up here in the meantime as I miss the whole journalism thing.

Also I've been playing the Jak & Daxter HD Collection - it's just as awesome as I remember it being when I was a kid. Beat 'The Precursor Legacy' last night. I'm eagerly awaiting playing the second one for the first time but I have things to do.

Best be off now, supposed to be writing an inquiry letter for a writing job.
I'll post again soon. Might be about the Transformers comics by IDW which I've been loving.

Roswell & Steve in.. 'Roswell's Routine'

Well I've been developing characters called "Roswell" and "Steve" for about a year. They're explorers that live together in a small and rickety spaceship. Recently (when I was still at uni) I was set the task to write a 3-5 minute animated short that was big on action and low on dialogue.

I ended up writing a prequel to Roswell and Steve's main story arc. It's basically a morning in the life of Roswell.

I hope you enjoy!

So I'm a drop out. ..Again. But it's not all bad!

If you regularly follow my blog and or Twitter, you'll know that I was attending a Creative Digital Media (Games Design) course at University. Well, that's no longer the case. I dropped out. Over the last month or so I'd been wrestling with this decision and I came to the conclusion that it just wasn't degree for me...

I'd enjoy the History of Games (which is basically a hobby of mine anyway), the Games Mechanics (again, it's not too far from what I think of anyway) but there was too much stuff that I just hadn't signed up for and simply didn't want to do. As soon as the lessons in script writing ended my interest got smaller and smaller. I've made some awesome friends there and it's a shame to leave them behind but deep down I feel like I've made the right decision.

Anyway, enough of that. Got to look to the future.

The current plan is to focus on pushing and publishing my writing, both in the creative and journalistic fields. I'm going to attempt more scripts for comics and possibly even animation or live action work. Which likely means I'll be posting some excerpts and even full scripts here.

I'd quite like to finish filming and editing on a short film I co-wrote called 'The Frankenstein Effect' at some point too. That'd go on YouTube.

T.R and I are still working on 'Cosmic-Man: Behind the Scarf' - and I'm going to hand a script over to Connor at Ripchord so that my first guest arc can finally be finished as soon as possible. I'm also working on a few 'Future Shock' script submissions for 2000 AD.

The next few months will be all about getting my name out there as a writer. I'll probably have to find a job to pay the bills in the meantime, but that's not a problem. I have my eyes on a destination and I *will* get there.

If anyone reading this would like to collaborate on a project or is looking for a journalist, please get in touch with me either via. Twitter or my LinkedIn page, which you can find on the shiny new link above. (It's the nice blue one with 'in' written on it.)

In the meantime this means back to my usual levels (see; summer or low-levels-of-work) of blog updates I think. Gonna try to review some of the more recent games and other media I've enjoyed.

Oh, and I went to the ThoughtBubble Expo again this year, this time as Captain Kirk. That was cool.
